breakfast at Tiffany's...errr.. Limonium House

ahhh love! who could ever forget Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) in the iconic opening scene in front of Tiffany's, eating pastry and drinking coffee? and don't forget her amazing wardrobe! who could ever forget "Moon River"? or that guy from the A-Team?

uhm... actually i did.

i can't seem to shake off the thought that: COFFEE AND A PASTRY for breakfast???? you must be kidding me! its the most important meal of the day! lemme show you what Holly G. should be eating for breakfast and one that my grandmother would be proud of:
PAN DE SAL what else! made from scratch using one-half wholemeal flour, one-half self-raising flour (actually, the only type of flour i can find in our pantry) and soya milk. delicious with a hint of garlic and parsley or cheese :) my first time to do pan de sal (which actually means "salt bread" in Spanish) and it came out nice and soft and a little special :)
CORNBREAD MUFFIN...mmm-mmm-mmm! the cornerstone of the Southern United States cuisine, tastes great with chilli con carne :) introduced this to the mister and now its his favorite, he eats it with pretty much everything.
the reason i first made this was because i missed the cornbead muffins at Kenny Roger's Roasters :) who can beat honey-roasted chicken with a side of blueberry cornbread muffin??? mmm-mmm-mmm!
a classic Filipino dish i always, always love is "GUINISANG MONGGO" or sauteed Mung Beans. i cooked this for the first time the other day with king prawns and spinach (instead of "malunggay" leaves) and to make it special, i sprinkled crushed pork cracklings on top. they were sooo good, i ate the whole thing!
whenever we eat Chinese, the mister's favorite is always crispy Szechuan beef. now, since i couldn't be bothered running to Morrison's to buy beef, i made CRISPY SZECHUAN CHICKEN instead :) it was such a hit too that it made its way to the mister's favorite list :) Holly G., eat your heart out!
