the lovely ladies at the shop were buzzing with new inventory this week when i visited my favorite shop. i have observed too that there are now more people visiting the shop than before which is good, i guess, even if it means no more elbow room for me.
i have this nagging feeling though that whatever i pick up in the shop, the lady at the till jacks up the price :( i don't know why but its a gut feeling.
despite a lot of stuff there, i only found these three beauties: first up, is this rich-brown glazed pitcher by Werkhof Wechold. not a lot of info about this company except that its a "fat lava" or West German studio pottery from the 50's to the 80's. if anyone has more info about this pitcher please do let me know, i would greatly appreciate it.
its a fairly recent one but i can't find no other info onlinenext one is a single Crown Devon Staffordshire ramekin with an orange flower. i also have this unconditional love for ramekins so how could i ever pass this one up?
my last find is an elegant Wedgewood Blue Jasperware dresser plate with the raised relief design (Wedgewood is so well-known for this) of three ladies dancing.
i hope i am wrong with that nagging feeling (cos its still nagging me).
*linking with Flea Market Finds @ Her Library Adventures! :)
All three are lovely, the glazed pitcher being my favorite. I know what you mean about a steep price quoted because you've shown interest. Sometimes it seems that way!
ReplyDeletei was behind a lady who paid .75p for her mugs! and this lady at the till knows me and always tells me i buy the nicest stuff... well everything in there is nice but that doesnt mean she has to increase the price of something just because i wanna buy it :( thats how i feel :(
DeleteI hope your instinct is wrong...yikes! I love the pitcher, and ramekins are so handy, aren't they? Very nice!
ReplyDeletei hope so too heather! thanks! i think i am gonna start a collection of ramekins hehe
DeleteLovely finds! Hopefully the shop lady isn't jacking up the prices, maybe you could just act really, really disinterested in the things you find and she if she charges you less! I love the ramekin you got though, it's very pretty! I think you can never have enough ramekins (probably because they're the items that always gets broken in our house for some reason!)

thanks lauren! i agree! we can never have enough ramekins hehe i use them all the time :) next time i am gonna act as if i couldn't care less if i find something i like in the shop. we will see! :)
DeleteIt would be bad if the lady were jacking up the prices for you.Just because you go quite often doesnt mean you have pots of unlimited cash! Ramekins are very useful things to have, you usually find them at car boot sales -where I bought mine! For some reason my husband can never remember the name of them and calls them firkins!
ReplyDeletefirkins! haha too funny anne! sooo true! somehow the prices she gives me are too way out of the usual (i can tell because the prices now arent what they used to be when i first started going there). *sigh*
DeleteI cannot stand when things don't have a price on them! I would be paranoid about it too. Next time, dress in rags. ;) I agree you should act disinterested too, and say, "just wondering how much this piece is." Anyway, good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteme too jo! i think they do it on purpose. hahaha i have my "glad-rags" ready now ;) thanks!
Deleteoooh I love that wedgewood blue! xx
