its girl scout cookies time! and every cookie has a mission...
TO HELP GIRLS DO GREAT THINGS! (how empowering is that!)
(i was a Girl Scout when i was a little girl and i loved every minute of it. they were part of my fondest memories where i learned leadership skills, confidence and courage while i was on my way to scary adulthood)
a good friend of mine from the States sent me 4 boxes of sweet Belgian-style caramelized cookies and the oh-so-popular thin mints and i must say they are delicious :)
meanwhile, while out shopping the other day, i got reacquainted with a pack of cookies named after moi. i gotta say, it is interesting to note that its advertising says its "dark outside and white inside". after some online research, i found out that this cookie has ruffled quite a few feathers from people (not to mention politicians!) back home. it is made by Kraft Foods in Spain and Portugal and are also sold in the Netherlands.
you can read more about these controversial biscuits in a blog written by popular food blogger and restaurateur, MarketManila.
in fairness to the cookie, it is delicious. so much so that i bought all three varieties and shall be promptly sending them to my sister pronto. i can't wait to hear what she thinks of it.
